Special Visitor

We had a special visitor Chris who was from Sustainablecoastline. We learnt... Many people drop rubbish on the road and they could go into storm drainage to the sea. We saw some birds, turtle and fish that died from eating those rubbish. We learnt that some of plastic are only used once. We watched few videos of birds, fish and whales are eating rubbish in the sea. The interesting video was about some children who picked up rubbish to make amazing art with them. The art piece showed a dolphin shape with sky all around it. We also saw thousands of rubbish in the LA river. We learnt that we should put rubbish in the bin and we should put into our lunch box until we take it home. Also we should be picking up rubbish outside when you see them..We should be using reusable shopping bag or drinking bottle instead of plastic bottles. We should never litter and we should keep on talking about it with adults.

Just Minute Speakers Week 4

CJ talked about his collection of Superheros models and cars Superheros. You collected over the years. His favourite piece was Batman, because I always play with him. He can do cartwheel punch! SK talked about her trip to Japan. She showed us her Kimono (yukata) outfit, origami arts, fish market writing and some of the fish photos, Tokyo Disneyland map, talked about the experiences there.

Dress up as book characters!

Dress Ups on the Book Week on last Friday! Unfortunately some of the photos are side ways.. Look at our creative costumes!

Just a Minute Speakers Term three Week 3

NJ talked about how many students and his best friends were from the previous primary school in Waipipi. He said he knew everyone there, because whenever there is an new student, the school always introduce him or her in assembly! What a cool way to get to know everyone in the school! Apparently it was Mr T's previous school where he was the principal there. Small world!
KH talked about his school in Korea, too. He talked about his friend's name, but he forgot his teacher's name!

Book Week and Amazing Costumes!

This week was all about Book week! We had two authors came to visit us and read their books. One of the author told us how she gets her ideas to write her stories. We had our scholastic books to our school hall, and on Friday, we had our dress up as book characters. We came up with creative ideas of how we dress up as those characters. Our class chosen character was SL who dressed up as Dorothy from 'Wizard of OZ' story. Anyone of us could be chosen as a best costume character from books!

Term 3

Welcome back everyone!
The new term has started and we are already busy designing costumes for the wearable art. We will have Wearable Arts Show on 17th September. More details about the show nights will follow closer to the time:)
We are delighted to have two new students in our class. KH is actually been in BDS before and NJ has been Botany Kindy before his family moved away. And they are learning the life in BDS quickly and everyone is helping them to feel welcome. We do have caring and responsible classmates in Room 17, and they will be feeling a part of team Room 17 in no time!

We have a special assembly for Mr. J. this Friday for he will be retiring and he has been with us for 30 years. We love Mr. J and will miss him very much, but hopefully he will continue come and coach our Touch and Ripper rugby.
